Geoffrey D. Michel graduated magna cum laude from Whittier College School of Law in 2004.  While in law school, Mr. Michel was a three-year recipient of the Dean’s Merit Scholarship, was a member of the Trial Advocacy Honors Board, and was placed on the Dean’s List for academic achievement each year.  During law school, Mr. Michel was a Judicial Extern to Justice Bedsworth, California Court of Appeal, and was a Court-Certified Extern with the Orange County District Attorney.

Mr. Michel is designated as a California Certified Legal Specialist in Family Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization, was admitted to the California State Bar in 2004, and has since practiced exclusively in the field of Family Law.  Mr. Michel is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Court, Central District of California.

Mr. Michel is an alumnus of the prestigious Houston Family Law Trial Institute at South Texas College of Law, a nationally recognized trial advocacy program which provides advanced education, training and instruction in family law trial practice.  Mr. Michel has completed both the basic course and advanced child custody course.

Mr. Michel has been a volunteer for the Orange County Public Law Center’s domestic violence and guardianship legal clinics, serves as a Presiding Arbitrator on the Mandatory Fee Arbitration Panel of the Orange County Bar Association, and has been a frequent lecturer and presenter for continuing legal education seminars for the Family Law Section of the Orange County Bar Association, as well as for other family law-related continuing education organizations.

Mr. Michel’s practice is devoted exclusively to all aspects of family law, including issues of dissolution of marriage (divorce), legal separation, annulment, child custody, child visitation and parenting-plans, child support, spousal support (alimony), property division, complex business and professional practice valuations, domestic violence, non-marital relationships (paternity), guardianships, step-parent adoptions, and pre-marital and post-marital agreements
